Children Events
Children are welcome at lunchtimes and early evenings but unfortunately the internal environment of The Highwayman Inn is not particularly suitable for the more boisterous.
There are, however, a number of unusual seating areas outside in which children and their families can also enjoy the wonders of the inn and the local scenery.
Throughout the year we look at celebrating unusual, natural, traditional and historical events in a variety of ways, ranging from plays and music to poetry and other arts and crafts. Often these events involve previous visitors who return to take part or guests and friends.

See our Events page for more.
Food  Weddings and Ceremonies

Bruce is a demon in the kitchen and aims to offer a wholesome range of light snacks including a various of pasties ('Oggies') and a wide range of Highwayman Platters to suit all tastes. The food is locally supplied and much of it is Organic.

Residents can enjoy more exotic fayre in the evenings which can be tailor made to suit your own palette again using fresh local produce.

Full English Breakfast is served to guests that are tarrying a while longer.

We can host your wedding or an alternative ceremony* at the Highwayman. Successful Humanist and Pagan ceremonies have already been catered for.
We will be happy to discuss your requirements.

*Note The Highwayman Inn does not hold a license for civil weddings and therefore alternative arrangements must be made to legalise the union.

 Drink Accommodation

We have a range of ales and lagers, wines and spirits. We also occasionally stock organic or bio dynamic guest wines etc but if you fancy something a little different why don't you try our award winning local Cider (True Scrumpy at it's best - Ed.)

We have also introduced a range of wines from vines grown in accordance with the lunar cycle. These really are quite exceptional wines.

3 Double Rooms and a several ships cabins above the Locker bar.
For return guests looking for something a little more 'Private and Personal', across the road, facing 'The Highwayman' and lying right on the edge of Dartmoor, is 'Cobweb Hall'.
Continuing the themes from the Highwayman, this beautiful cottage has 2 double en-suite rooms, dual sweeping staircase and large open fireplaces.

Please see our accommodation page for more details and prices.
